When the operator answers, clearly state:
- Your Bank Name and Account Number
- Exact Fraud Amount debited
- Transaction Reference / UTR Number from SMS
- Recipient UPI ID or Account Number if visible
Stop further unauthorized debits immediately:
- Open your bank app and toggle off "Online / International Transactions"
- Block your debit card immediately
- Reset your UPI PIN in Google Pay / PhonePe / Paytm
Within 24 hours of calling 1930, you must formalize your complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal:
- Choose "Report Financial Fraud"
- Enter the Acknowledgement Number given by 1930
- Upload bank statement PDF and transaction screenshots
Never delete messages or call records from the scammer:
- Take uncropped screenshots of WhatsApp chats and phone numbers
- Save payment receipts with UTR numbers
- Do NOT block or delete chat threads before exporting backups
